Pastoral Experience Rev. John Thomason has served as an Elder and pastor in the New York Annual Conference since 2007. Before coming to Wethersfield, he pastored NYAC churches in Monticello and Liberty, NY, and Woodbury, CT. Pastor John is a native of Texas. He began his ministry career as a Baptist, having received degrees from Baylor University (BA) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.). He did graduate work in Christian theology at Oxford University in England and the University of Chicago Divinity School. After serving in two Baptist pastorates, he spent four years in hospital chaplaincy and Clinical Pastoral Education before resuming parish ministry in 1993 as a United Methodist. He served several churches in the Texas Annual Conference, then transferred to the New York Conference in order to live closer to his two grown daughters. In addition to his church duties, he has also taught at the college level and served in specialized ministries to persons dealing with grief and addiction issues. Pastor John pastimes include exercise, sports, movies, and reading history and biography. His greatest joy comes in spending time with his daughters and their families. Kate now resides in Redding, CT, along with her husband Dylan and five-year old son, Allen. Beth lives in Cambridge, MA, with her husband Eric. |
